The Chief of the Pakistani Army Staff, Army General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, today, 15th September, has undertaken a visit of Buenavista Palace, Army Headquarters, in Madrid. On his arrival the Chief of the Pakistani Army Staff has been received with official honours and subsquently has held a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, Army General Fulgencio Coll.

After signing the Guest Book and receiving the Great Cross of Military Merit in the white division, the Chief of the Pakistani Army Staff has attended a lecture by the commander of the Operations Division, General Fernando Alejandre, titled Operations Update.  To conclude, both delegations have participated in a talk followed by a discussion on the Pakistani Army contribution to the fight against terrorism.  Army General Kayani’s visit will continue on 16th September in Seville and on the 17th in Córdoba.

Since occupying the post of Chief of the Pakistani Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has been outstanding due to his support to the international community in the fight against the Taliban.  One of his first actions after taking up the post was travelling to the Afghan border in order to visit the Pakistani troops detached there.  He has supported the democratic process in his country, by dissociating the Army from politics and assuring his role within the constitutional order.
