The 11th Logistic Support Group Celebrates its Holiday

Number: 1622

The 11th Logistic Support Group –located in Colmenar Viejo (Madrid)- has celebrated the Day of the Unit, on 11th May, which coincided with the commemoration of the 21st  anniversary of the donation of the Spanish Flag to the unit by the Madrid City Council.  Ms. Rosa Martínez Guisasola, wife of the capital’s city councillor at that time, Mr. Agustín Rodríguez Sahagún, was the Flag’s patroness.

The commander of the Logistics Brigade, General Alberto Corres, presided over the military parade on the esplanade on Base ‘San Pedro’, the Group’s headquarters, which was attended by civilian and military authorities, as well as former unit members. During the ceremony, the medals awarded throughout the last year were presented to military and civilian personnel posted to the 11th Logistic Support Group.

This unit, whose command is held by Colonel Ramón Farré, has the mission of lending logistic support in homeland to Army units, as well as constituting a projectable logistic unit, when command so determines, in order to provide logistic support to Spanish troops detached in the area of operations.  Its personnel have actively participated, as well, in missions abroad: last year it led the ‘Libre Hidalgo XIV’ Logistic Unit, which was part of the Spanish military force in Lebanon from May to September.
