The most important cycling race in the Canary Islands, Fudenas, presented its 2015 edition at the cantonment “Puerto del Rosario” in Fuerteventura on 6 October. More than 2,100 people have already signed up for the event, which will take place on 24 and 25 October.

Colonel Juan Carlos Royo, commander of the 9th Infantry Regiment “Soria”, introduced the 9th edition of the event together with Nicolás Oramas, mayor of Puerto del Rosario, and other local dignitaries. 691 cyclists will enter the race modality, which lasts for one day, while 1,437 will participate in the route modality, stretching over two days.

Most of the itinerary runs through pathways and trails, volcanic black stones, areas of ‘jable’ (sand dunes), rocky terrain, volcanoes and beaches, bringing together sport and nature.

The race was originally created to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9th Light Infantry Regiment “Soria” in the capital of the Island of Fuerteventura and is organised by the Soria 9 Sporting Club in close cooperation with the unit.
