Cervantes exhibit starts in Alcalá de Henares

The exhibit ‘Cervantes, soldado de la Infantería española’ (translated into English as: ‘Cervantes, Spanish Infantry soldier.’) was opened on Sept. 22nd at the old ‘Santa María la Rica Hospital’ (in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid). The showing has been organized by the Spanish Army through the Military Cultural and History Institute (IHCM in Spanish) and the 6th ‘Almogávares’ Brigade BRIPAC (Paratrooper light infantry Brigade, in Spanish).

The event was chaired by the General Fernando Aznar –quartering Director-. He was escorted by María Aranguren (Alcalá de Henarés Town Hall councillor of culture), General José Ignacio Martínez de Lagos (Deputy Director of the IHCM), and Colonel Romero (acting BRIPAC chief).

The exhibit is made up of sculptures, miniatures, paintings and engravings. Also, the canvas ‘Cervantes in the Lepanto battle’ by Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau can be admired. It will stay in Alcalá de Henares until Oct. 23rd, and will go afterwards to other Spanish towns: Badajoz, Cordoba, Murcia and San Sebastian.

Tickets are free. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 2pm and from 6pm to 9pm. On Sundays: from 11am to 2pm. The exhibit will have continuous work shift on Monday Oct. 10th and will close on Oct. 13th.
