NASAMS Maximun altitude launches

Two highest-altitude missiles launches helped the NASAMS (Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System) Group of the n. 73, Spanish Army Air Defence Regiment (RAAA in Spanish) to test the capacity of that system in the exercise that took place from Oct. 22 – 29 at fire and exercise range ‘Médano del Loro’ (Huelva).


The maximum altitude allowed by the weather and the blank airplane´s performance used for this exercise, the Scrab II, that the Aerospace Spanish Institute provided and operated; (Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial in Spanish).  

That blank had an electronic war equipment to assess its in-flight actions on the radar ‘Sentinel’ and the Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile. There were also personnel from RAYTHEON and KDA; companies that monitored the behavior of thte material to check its performance.


Besides these 2 launches, there was an actual missiles launch sequence included in the Air Defence System thru the anti-aircraft operations center of the unit. There also was a missile firing collaboration of the Spanish Army Air Defence Regiment battery n. 94 de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
