The units´commanders of the NRF 2016 (NATO Response Force 16) meet in Bétera, Spain.

In Bétera (Valencia, Spain), on Nov. 22nd, Lt Gen. Francisco J. Varela, Commander of the HQ NRDC-ESP, has chaired the Commanders of multinational units’ meeting that has himself commanded in 2016 as Chief of the LCC of the new eNRF.


Among the represented units, the 7th ‘Galicia’ Infantry Brigade was present. This unit has acted as foundation for the NATO 2016 VJTF Brigade. This has led this unit to be the first military unit of NATO 2016 spearhead.
This meeting has taken stock of this new eNRF. The following attendees were at the meeting: Lt. Gen. Tim Radford –Commander of the British HQ ARRC which will lead the 2017 LCC of the NRF and the VJTF.
The Spanish Army has achieved the commitment reached in Wales on Sep. 2014 by the Heads of State and NATO government’s leaders. A commitment that has materialized in the creation of a response force, 100% operational, more potent, more flexible and with more interoperability.
