11th "Extremadura" Brigade participates in "Orion" exercise in Portugal

More than 200 soldiers belonging to 11th "Extremadura" Brigade participate in the bilateral exercise called "Orion", at "Santa Margarida" Manoeuvres and Shooting Field in Portugal, from the 27th of April to the 8th of May.

With the support of the 1st Transport Group, the soldiers from Badajoz went to Portuguese lands in order to join to the operational organization of the Mechanized Brigade for the participation in "Orion" exercise with the Portuguese Armed Forces. The Spanish soldiers take part in the generalized combat phase which is conducted at the Manoeuvres Field previously mentioned.

The exercise has as main aim to reach the biggest integration in a multinational organization. It consists in a tactical exercise at army level, developed in LIVET format, with real fire exercises and real fire shootings. It is carried out in five different stages of the Portuguese territory at the same time.

The units of the 11th Brigade participating in this bilateral exercise are the General Staff, the 1st "Mérida" Infantry Battalion of Combat Vehicles, the 1st "Cantabria" Mechanized Infantry Battalion (BIMZ I/6), the 11th Artillery Field Group and the 11th Logistics Group.
