On 4th February, the Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, went to Seville to know first hand the bridges the Army has built for the towns of El Rubio and Casariche, after the floods the suffered in October.

First of all, she visit the Bailey bridge set in the town of El Rubio, that suffered the worst floods in its hstory last autumn. Margarita Robles claimed that she feels very proud of the Army, due to its close relationship to the citizens and its defence of values, freedom and security. She also expressed her solidarity with the town affected: ‘Spain is a large and supportive country, and when there is an emergency, we all must work side by side.

Afterwards, the Minister of Defence moved to the town of Casariche, where the Army set another Bailey bridge, more than 24 metres long and 4 metres wide. The bridge includes its own ramps and can be accessed by vehicles up to 50 tonnes.

The inhabitants of the town have thanked all the soldiers, and particularly, Captain Alejandre from the Salamanca 11th Engineering Specialists Regiment, for their work and commitment to the setup of the bridge, that allow them to go on with their daily lives by restoring communcations.

In both visits, the Minister has been together with the Chief of the Land Force, Lieutenant General, as well as with other civilian and military authorities.
